Iron Sharpens Iron

Iron sharpens Iron, So one person sharpens another – Proverbs 27:17

RunnerGirl

Have you ever thought about how important community is around you , especially in your fitness life? Well, community is important. Today, I met a new friend. I decided to do a run in the gym instead of going to the park and running. I’m super glad I did that, as I met someone who has similar goals, similar backgrounds (she just got married as well and gained 5 pounds after just like I did), she is well-educated and she lives a healthy lifestyle. She a gave me some great advice on my workouts – you can’t buy this stuff! Community is priceless. I went into the gym today thinking “Lets just hurry up and get this 30 minute run over with already so I can feel better” and instead ended up staying on the treadmill for almost an hour because we had so much synergy bouncing between us in that little gym; I didn’t want to let go.

Having that said, it is really hard to find people who are motivated to workout consistently enough to be a workout partner/friend. This makes my encounter today all the more special. We exchanged numbers and I cannot wait to go on a hike or take a yoga class with her.

This is the time of year my friends, January, after the New Years resolutions are written out and up on the tack board. The gyms are crowded with people with honest good intentions, people who want to change their life, eat healthier, exercise regularly and feel better. If you are someone who is looking for a workout partner and you already have a consistent fitness schedule, go pick up some friends! If you don’t have a regular fitness schedule and want to be more consistent – same thing! Go meet some regulars, BE a regular! This is the best time to get out there and meet people (while they are consistent). You never know how your habits can rub off and make them even more consistent. Or Vice Versa!

I truly believe that the world is FILLED with people who have good intentions and want change, so let’s go out there and find our community. IRON SHARPENS IRON.

I have only been to Mare Island twice, that was when it was a fully active via the military. So a lot of areas were restricted to civilians, I never had the chance to see the complete Island. I never knew that there are so many things to see and do that were accessible there, Now when I come home I have a new adventure to discover Mare Island. 😀

That’s great! Yes, there are some quite “enchanted” places on the island. Great idea, next time you visit, set a half day aside for Mare Island.
